If you are missing multiple teeth, an orthodontist may use braces to move your teeth slightly. That way, there is only one large gap instead of multiple smaller gas. This will make the process of implanting multiple teeth much easier.
Then, the dentist will place one screw on either side of this large gap. For example, if you are missing a total of four teeth in a row, a dentist may place one screw on the right side and one screw on the left side. Then, a bridge containing all four teeth will be placed in the gap. The teeth on the edges are going to screw into the two screws that were placed in the jaw, anchoring all four teeth in place.
Even though you are missing multiple teeth, not every cap is going to have a screw. This makes the treatment process easier.
There are a few significant benefits that come with using one screw for multiple teeth. These include:
- Dental implants have already been proven to be significantly stronger than natural teeth. As a result, it is entirely possible that one implant can support the mechanical load of more than one tooth.
- Because there are fewer screws and planted in the jaw, the cost per implant goes down. Even though you may require a total of four caps, this will not cost four times the amount of money when compared to a single implant.
- The treatment time is also much shorter. Because there are fewer screws being placed in the jaw, there is less swelling, less discomfort, and a shorter recovery time.
If you are interested in using dental implants to replace an entire set of upper or lower teeth, then you may be interested in full arch dental implants. Full arch dental implants are a specific type of multiple dental implants that will replace an entire set of upper or lower teeth. In some cases, a trained oral surgeon can use only four dental implants to replace an entire set of upper or lower teeth. If you need increased stability, your oral surgeon may use six dental implants to replace an entire set of teeth. This is a cost-effective way to replace all of your upper or lower teeth.
